BluVector Awarded Machine Learning Patent for Zero-Day Malware Detection

Patent will Help Company Protect and Advance its Growing Cybersecurity Leadership

Arlington, Va.—July 13, 2017— BluVector, a leader in network security monitoring and analytics, today announced that it has been issued a new patent for “System and Method for Automated Machine-learning, Zero-day Malware Detection” (U.S. Patent 9,665,713). BluVector is the first company to obtain this type of patent in the cybersecurity industry.

Originally filed before the company completed its successful spinoff from Northrop Grumman, the recently awarded patent helps to secure and protect its innovations in machine learning and threat detection. The combination of automation and machine learning are a significant advance in today’s evolving cyber threat landscape as they enable BluVector’s technology to detect previously unknown, zero-day threats faster than conventional detection tools.

To date, BluVector has been issued two patents and has filed for eight patents related to technology that will continue to help the company evolve its solution.

“This patent helps to strengthen BluVector’s role as a leader in machine learning threat detection and protect the methods that enable us to detect normal as well as zero-day threats with over 99 percent accuracy,” said Kris Lovejoy, CEO, BluVector. “Our teams will continue to evolve our next-generation malware detection to meet the growing needs of enterprises in search of a solution that helps them to greatly enhance their security posture.
