BluVector is seeking a high-energy IT Network and Systems Administrator in the Washington DC area. The IT Network and Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of a multi-user computer/network environment. Interacts with users of varying level of experience.  Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup and recovery of all systems. Develops and monitors policies and standards related to the use of computing resources.  Ancillary duties may include managing user, administrator and system accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installation and management of system wide software and managing storage.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Create/Administer/Troubleshoot Active Directory Group Policies
  • Support BluVector manufacturing and maintain customer inventories and ERP/CRM related information and workflows
  • Ability to apply technical skills and experience in managing selected Windows and Linux servers and numerous workstations supporting highly skilled engineers working with advanced programming languages and algorithms
  • Provide planning, coordination, and implementation of server installations, upgrades, routine maintenance and vendor supplied patches in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed
  • Serve as a contact for outages and communicate the status of the outage to management
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, installation qualifications, and documentation adhering to industry best practices
  • Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance levels; provide performance statistics and reports
  • Define and perform system backup and recovery procedures; participate in development, testing, and implementation of business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Strong customer service orientation, proven ability to pay attention to details and proven dependability
  • Works under only general direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions
  • Provide support to users and troubleshoots/resolves problems
  • Managing user identity management, system entitlements and PKI deployments

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Expert knowledge of various system and network operating technologies (Windows, RedHat, CentOS, Mellanox, PaloAlto, Sophos and Cisco)
  • Experience with managing enterprise class virtualization software (OpenStack, oVirt, Xen, ESXi)
  • Experience with network administration
  • Experience with BASH and MS Powershell Scripting
  • Experience with RedHat Package Manager (RPM), Yum, Git, Docker containers, Foreman, Ansible, and Jenkins
  • Experience with cloud-based services (Amazon Web Services, OpenShift, Azure)
  • Experience with storage technologies such as storage area network or network-attached storage (CEPH, IBM, NFS)
  • Experience with Identity management systems and concepts
  • Knowledge of PKI fundamentals
  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field w/3 years’ work experience, Years of experience can be sub for degree & certs

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experienced in PKI Certificate, implementation techniques, and best practices
  • Certifications in related OS, Application and/or Networking systems (MS Windows, Red Hat Linux, Cisco, Palo Alto)
  • Knowledge of Docker containers
  • Experience with C&A process
  • Creation and deployment of system images in an enterprise environment, use of PowerShell scripts
